Important components of a nursery

Nursery bed

1. seed beds/nursery beds : Comparative smaller area should be allotted to the seed beds. The width of the seed beds should be so adjusted that the nursery operations could be carried out easily without entry in the beds. The seed bed should provide an environment conducive to rapid seed germination and growth.  Preferable, a sunny place should be selected for this purpose.

Building structure

2. Mother plants: Mother plants are one of most important components of a nursery as they are the backbone of plant propagation.It should be planted along with boundary . Only high quality and disease free mother plants should be selected and maintained.

3. propagation structure: According to need the nursery should have green house, lath house,glass house, seed germinators, and mist propagation facilities.

Packing yard

4. Pot yard :Preferably shady part of the nursery should be selected for this purpose because most of the pots plants love shade.

5. Packing yard: This is another very important part of a nursery where the uprooted/ lifted plants are packed before transportation.

Office room

6. Building structures: In include office, sale counter packing shed, potting shed,and store,implement shed,bullock shed and residential quarters etc.
